Rensselaer Republican, Volume 21, Number 11, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 15 November 1888 — Hon W.D.Owen. [ARTICLE]
Hon W.D.Owen.
The triumphant re-election of Hon. W.D. Owen as member of Congress for the Tenth Districtis a result over which Republicans can especially congratulate themselves. It is a complete vindication.of his honorable and industrious course in Congress and attests his well popularity in the district. His ipajority, although considerably smaller than in' 1886, when the preposterous Hattery was his opponent, is still very much greater than it was in 1884, and that too, when Benton county with its 383 Republican majority, was still in the Tenth District. As the District now is his majority in 1884 was 19G. Now it is nearly 1,200. A very satisfactory gain, considering the great special effort made all over the district to defeat him. The following are the majorities in the district, nearly all being the official returns: FOB OWEN Majorities.
