LET US JOLLIFY.
The Republicans of Rensselaer and surrounding country will hold a jollification, next Saturday night. Come out, everybody, from miles around, and let us have a glorious good time over our glorious good victory.
Town Board Notes.
The Board, at its meeting Monday night, ordered Jefferson street, in Newton’s addition, to be opened northward, across the railroad, and up to the rear of John Coe n’s residence. The side-walk along the west side of Van Rensselaer'street, from R. Fendig’s to Wm. Meyer’s was ordered condemned. The proposition of the Gas and Oil Coriapariy, to turn over their artesian well and the lot upon which it is situated, to the town, on condition of .certain 'improvements, was finally rejected. j... The Board will hold a special meeting, next Monday night, conjointly with the citizens, to take action upon the proposition to employ a night watch.
Death of Samuel Fendig.
Samuel Fendig died last Mon-, day morning, at his residence on Front street. His first sickness, which began about seven months ago, was with rheumatism, but later was merged* into a complication of diseases. His age was a little mpre than 57 years. The remains Were taken to Lafayette Monday, and interred in the Jewish cemetery, at that place: The deceased leaves a widow, two sons and one daughter. He was a brother of Ralph and Nathan Fendig, merchants of Rensselaer. He was the first permanent Jewish resident of Jasper county, having lived here since 1864.

Excursions to the Uhlcasro Fat Slock Show.
On November 12,14, 16, 19, 21 and 23d, the Monon route will sell excursion tickets to Chicago and return, from LaFayette, Frankfort and from all intermediate points, as far north as Hammond, at rate of one and one-third fare —with 50 cents added for admission coupon —good returning five days, including date, of sale. On November 22, excursion tickets will be sold from all local points on the Monon route to Chicago and return, at special low rate of one cent per mile each way, the return ’ portion good until Monday, following date of sale. f The American Fat Stock Show takes place in the Chicago Exposition buildings, commencing Noyemfier continuing until November 24th. It will be the largest exhibition of the kind ever held, as the large premiums offered have attracted the attention of the world, and brought representation of celebrated breeders from Canada, England pnd Scotland. The displays include every known variety of horses, cattle, poultry, dairy products etc., etc. Chicago Itself presents many attractions during the Indian summer season. The theatres are all running in varied program, from light comedy to heavy tragedy, or grand opera; the museums, panoramas, and floral shows will give the visitor both instruction and entertainment.
