MORE ABOUT OLD TIMERS.

To the large list of men who voted for Old Tippecanoe in 1840, and who will vote for YouDg Tippecanoe in 1888, we now add the names of Martin B. Sccftt, of Keener tp., Alexander St. Clair, of Marion and Daniel Van Dusen, of Wheatfield tp. ... There are one or two, and possibly three old gentlemen living in Jasper county who voted for Old Tip. in 1840 but who, we are sorry to say, have departed from the faith of their fathers and will not vote the Republican ticked this fall. But on the other hand these are tar more than off-set by a number of veterans who voted against the first Harrison in 1840 but will vote for his grandson this year. Among these are Dr. Jas. Ritchey, Rial Benjamin and Clement Timmons, of Marion township; Wm. Tharp and Edward Kirk, of Carpenter, and Jared Benjamin, of Newton. , These old gentlemen are all true Republicans now -and have been ever since the party was organized, and although not strictly entitled to become members of the county Tippecanoe club should at least be admitted as honorary members. Uncle George Thornton, of Surrey, ought also to be allowed to squeeze in, somehow. He wanted to vote for Old Tippecanoe awful bad, but lacked two months of the requisite age. He is a Republican, from the ground up and always has been and always will be. The time and place for the meeting to form the Jasper County Tippecanoe Club is Saturday, Sept. 1, at 2 o’clock, p. m., at the court house in .Rensselaer.
