STORM AT MONTREAL.

Montreal and district were visited Wednesday afternoon by the severest wind and thunder storm in the memory of the oldest people. —Two wooden houses in St. Jean Baptiste ward were demolished, but the occupants escaped. On the south shore of the river much. "damage was done. Valuable timber w’as completely ruined, and the loss to lumbermen Will be enormbus. A report comes from Compton, in the eastern towiiship, of the demolition of tKe hou.w of one Perrault and the, instant killing of his-wife and five children, but it cannot be verified. Other rumors of loss of life in the vicinity of Sharbrook are current, and are believed to be true, but cannot be substantiated.
