Keener Township Graduation
Keener township has five graduates from the township schools, this year, or more than any other township in the county. The graduation exercises were held last Friday evening, in the DeMotte school house, and were successful and interesting to an unusual degree. The essays of the graduates were especially deserving of mention, possessing the elements of merit and originality, in a high degree. The names of the graduates and the subjects of their essays were: Eva Fairchild, “Our Heroines; or the Women of America,” Clifford Fairchild, “Our Heroes; or the Men of America,” Ernest Shortridge, “As ye Sow, so Shall ye Reap.” Etbie Fairchild, “Class Prophecy,” Edith Marshall, “Character” The diplomas were presented by County Superintendent Warren, as were also 34 certificates of Honor, and seven silver stars, to the pupils of the township. The recipients of the stars were Ruthie, Effie, Essie Eva and Clifford Fairchild and Joseph Marshall. The stars are given for “perfect attendance” at school for five years. The people of Keener took great interest in the graduation, attending the exercises in large numbers. ? -Fr B- Meyer is-sole ageut for the thoroughly reliable, Heath & Milligan prepared paint*.
