Township Commencement Exercises.

The graduating exercises for Marion and Newton townships, were helfl at Surrey school bouse, last Saturday The attendance was beyond the capacity of the hpuse to accommodate. The exercises were enfivenecl by good music apd a program of considerable merit was carried pu,t. The names of the graduates and the subjects of their essays were: Emma J. Kenton, Newton tp., subject “The Chinese.” May Hammond, Marion tp., subject, ‘‘Progress of Civilization.” Ella Lang, Newton tp.,' subject, “Mormonism.” Miss Kenton, the first graduate above named, lias the honor of having the highest general average, on her graduating examination papers, of any in the county this year. • The diplomas were presented by Superintendent Warren,
