Baldwin, Mich., August 10,1887. , Geo. G. Steketee; Grand Rapids, Midi., Dear Sir:—lf neuralgia was ever hereditary, it wasinrfiy fAthcr gfam!ly. Mymother was afflicted with it tis long ago as I can well remember, and I, in common with the other members of her family, was a martyr to its tortures in its most acute form. Night after night in spite of opin tes given to easo the pain have I passed, sitting up Or walking the floor of my room in such pain as only sufferers frorq this terrible disease know. At length I procured a bottle of your “drops.” toqk a few doses, which relieved me and quit. In about a week the disease returned. I then resolved to follow directions faithfully and given it a fair trial. I did so and to my inexpressible relief and happiness have not had a single twinge of it since, and that, was three years ago. Other members of our family have also used it with themosthappy results, would not like to say that it will cure every one, but it did me; and I earnestly advise every one suffering from the disease to give it a thorough trial, and be sure to take it according to directions. Respectfully yours, J. W.. Nicholson, Register Deeds, Lake Co., Mich. Price 50 cents per bottle, 3 bottles on receipt of 81.50, express paid. P. S.—Trial bottle sent or receipt of 12'cents lii .U. Proofs are now abundant in all directions that the worst elements of the Democratic party are now controlling its destinies. Look at the backdown under the lash of the Southorn.brigadiers.Look at Mills, of Texas, rattling around in the place that should be filled by Randall. Look at Senator Voorhees, voluntarily appearing before the Supreme Court of the United States tp defend and eulogize the tally-sheet convicts and criminals. Look at the slaughter of “Uncle Joe” McDonald, in his own ward, by an insignificant tool of Isaac P. Gray. Look at the infamy of Governor McEnery in Louisiana. Look at Grover Cleveland and the Solid South. Last but not least, look at the convict, Sim Coy, running a nominating campaign in Marion county and routing the better element of the party at all points. A little later on we may also look at the robber and baron, William L. Scott, at the head of the Democratic National Committed scattering boodle over the land, and heading the hosts of corruption in the N<srthand law defiance in the South in the most daringly unscrupulous and desperately infamous election campaign of all history, for the re-election of the man Cleveland. Will the better element of the Democi atic party consent to be degraded to the low level of this worst element ?—Logansport Journal. <<
A Mysterious Disappearance.
News comes from Keener township of the mysterious disappearance of one Chester Brockway. His coat h x t tllcl a parll y emptied dinner bucket were found; also a bottle of so-called stomach bitters, about half consumed. Extensive search has been made with the expectation of finding the maiFs dead body'iFthe woods, but without result. Brockway, the missing man, is of-but. lit natural understanding and also' liable, when he has been drinking, to lose what little sense he had and to wandergaround in a demented condition. He was kept at the county poor house for a long time, a few years ago. He is a broth-er-in-law of the Mrs. Brockway who has just been taken to the insane asylum.

A Bug in His Ear Twenty Years.
Edward Green, of Carpenter.tp., was among the old soldiers who were examined by Dr.' Lopp, the pension agent and physician, last Wednesday. One of his troubles was a deaf ear, in which was a gathering, which, at times, gave him considerable annoyance. The doctor operated on the affected ear with a syringe, for a short time and directly there floated out a small bug, about the size of the familiar lady-bug. Tim ear had troublesome for more than twenty years and Mr. Green supposes that he has carried the bug in it during all that time. The insect was dead, of course, and the wax in the ear preserved it perfectly. Mr. Green’s soldier friends tried to make him believe that the bug was only an extra large specimen of the old-time graybacks, but they failed to convince him.
A Successful Shakespearean.
The third annual festival and entertainment for the benefit of the High School Library was held in the Opera House, last Friday evening, and, like its predecessors, was a brilliant success, and netted a fine sum for the purpose for which it was given. The materials for the splendid and superabundant supper, were contributed by the liberality of our citizens, and solicited and collected through the exertions of the pupils of the school. A very large number of Shakesperean characters' were represented in costume, many of them very handsome and striking and nearly fell sufficiently appropriate to satisfy all but the hyper-critical. After the supper a short literary program was executed, consisting of a sketch of Shakespeare and hi s works, by Waiter L. Will ey; the address of Catherine of Arragon to the judges, by Miss Grace Vanatta; and the appeal of Portia to Shylock, in the Merchant of Venice, by Miss Nellie Kelley, nil concluding’ with two scenes from the “Merry Wives of Windsor,” by a doztm or more performers. The entertainment was pleasantly interpersed with songs and music. Mr. Thad P. j Varney, the comedian and theatre manager happened to be present ’ ience with a recitation. The voting of the silver dish to -tba.m.Qfi.t.poimlar lady took place after the literary program. After some scattering votes- the matter settled down to a contest between the friends of Misses Blanche [ Loughridge and Ray; Leopold. The final declaration of the result showed that Miss Leopold was the victor, having received 1876 votes to 1473 for Miss Loughridge. The-gokl ring in a piece of cake was won by Miss Caroline Irwin. The net proceeds of the entertainment will be about $125. All of which will go to increase the number of books in the library.
