Turpic’s Seat.

Indiana Republicans have, it is said, practically abandoned their contest for Senator Turpie’s seat This case was referred to the Senate committee on privi'eges and elections, and tbe eubeornn i ttee, of which Senator Hoar :s chairman, was appointed to take the matter in hand. The subject has not been agi tat ed recently, and the sub-com-mittee does not seem inclined to proceed further in the matter. Senator Voorhees says the Republicans in Indiana now against Senator Turpia and, therefoie, are not pressing the contest. Senator Hoar seems too much engrossed- with other public matters to consider the case, and it is probable, says Senator Voorhees, that “it will be kicked over, as it deserves to be.”
