An Important Enactment.
Through the friendly offices of Judge E. P. Hammond, who was in Indianapolis, last, week, we are now efiabled to place before our readers one of the locally most interesting laws ever passed by. the Indiana Legislature; and one which, we have no doubt, was.nevjer before published in the town. ThelUlowing is.the act: “An ackto change the name of the town of Newton to that of Renssg!liter * [Approved February 18, 1840.] Seo. I. Be it enacted by tiie General AesevibTy'of ike Slate of .fnd/iuitr,. That the name of the town of Newton, in Jasper County, be, and the same is hereby eiumged"to"that of lienssellaer. This act to be i» force from and after its passage.”
