Commissioners’ Court.

Wednesday.—Wm. Draper was appointed a constable in Carpenter tp. M. F. Schwauke, trustee of i Keener tp., was authorized to incur an indebtedness in the special I school fund of liis township, not to j exceed i S9OO, to build a school J house. Thursday.— Edward T. Biggs j showed that he had been assessed : for taxes on the same personal i property for 1885, in both Walker and Kankakee tps. The Walker tax was remitted. David M. and S. B. Worland were allowed $125 for damages to team and steam engine; sustained when they broke through the bridge ovei the Big Slough, in Marion tp., last August; $75 on the team and SSO on the engine. They asked for SSOO. Sixteen other, claims against the county were disposed of. The two claims of W. W. Harteell of $lB and $27.30, respectively, for medical aid furnished poor of Marion tp., were dismissed. The claim of Elias Marion of $24.90, for relief of poor in Barkley, was nlso disallowed; and the same disposition was made of the claim of M. B. Alter for $4, foi medical aid for poor of Marion tp. A similar claim by J. C. Deming for sl3 50 was allowed in the sum of $3. All otliclaims allowed in full. Friday. —The Postal Telegraph Cable Company was granted the right to construct and maintain a telegraph lino in and along highways in the county that may hereafter be selected, provided that such tins does not interfere with the public use of tin*, highways. The county jail and sher-ilfs residence was insured, for the period of live years, in the sum of $1,335 by each of the following agents, M. L. Spitler, C. Bj Steward, Val Seib, C. 0. Warner and W. B. Austin. Tiro premium in each case being $40.05, for the five years. W. VY. Watson also insured the same.budding, for the same period, in the sum of $335,f0r a prem--1 uin of $10.05. Wilson were appointed viewers. Feb 4.3 is the day appointed. The viewers appointed in the September.session to locate a road ! in J.ordau and Carpenter townships, and also those appointed for a like duty in Walker tp. reported j that they had located and laid out j the roads, on the routes described ; and the Commissioners declared the roads established. The Smith Iron Bridge Co., of Toledo, 0., Was contracted with for the superstructure of an iron j bridge, iu Jordan tp., over the State j Ditch, near Lorenz Hildebrand’s, I at a cost of $354. The siibstruc- i ture is to be of stone, built under the direction of Frank Welsh, township to pay $75, and the county the balance. Bridge to be coinpietial by May Ist.
