Cas Well Notes.
Boring has made pretty steadyprogress since beginning, but not very rapid, owing to the hardness of the rock. The depth of the hole at noon yesterday was about 150 feet. / The distance bored every 24 hours is about 20 feet. Water stands in the hole within,, a few feet of the surface, and considerably retards the progress of the boring. The plan of obtaining water from Perkins’ place proved unset-, isfactory, and a supplemental well, about 10 feet in the rock, was bozed last week and from that an abundant supply is obtained. The present - character of reck will probably continue to a total deptli of abput 600 feet. The weight of the drill and its iron stem is about 1,600 pounds. Each occilation of the walking beam raises this about three feet, and the fall of 1,600 pounds three feet is the force of eaefi blow of the drill, or would be were it not for the water in the well, which diminishes the force considerably. Like all mei of their vocation, the drill operators are reluctant to answer questions, while at work. A fact which the many people win, visit the boring will do well to bear in mind.
