Badly Cut Up.
John W. Clemens, son of Squire J. i 3. Clemens, of Newton tp., and a young fellow named Elias Brockus, got. into a fight in Fair Oaks Tuesday night, and the latter cut Clemens in a frightful manner, with a knife, probably a dirk. There are two bad cuts on Clemens’ head, oue on his arm, at the elbow joint, aucl an immennegash on his back, -ft om his shoulder, obUquMydownwards. The last cut is six or eight inches ..long and nearly two inches deep. The young man came to Rensselaer on the 10:30. train apt] Brs.' Ritters and Victor Long bridge gave him temporary treatment, to arrest the How of) blood, and yesterday morning gave the wounds a thorough dressing. Clemens is weak from loss of blood, but is able to be about and his wounds are not dangerous, but that is not through lack of intention, upon the part of his ferocious assailant. The fight orignated in a playful - scuffle. * Clemens was entirely'unarmed and had no thought -of using any weapon upon his antogouist. The latter is about 18 years old and has the reputation of being a, thoroughly bad and desperate boy. Constable Wood went after him yesterday . with a warrant, but he. had made his escape.
