FROM SURREY. Miss Maggie Lang, formerly of Indianapolis, has gone to that city to attend the funeral of a relative, and will also make a short visit. There was a successful icecream, supper at Mr. Brook’s last Saturday and all present had ah enjoyable time. Miss Viola Clemens is visiting friends at Rosa Lawn.. The painters, C. F. Harding and Gaylord Chilcote are at work on Fred Lang’s barn. Dave Anderson is the happy possesser of a new top buggy. * Topsy.

FROM WHEATFIELD. Weather exceedingly dry. Many cases of sickness might be reported from this neighbor-hood. August Krull was favored last week with visitors from Chicago.. VV T m. Spikings has returned from lowa. We think lie will be content to stay with his father ahwile before he takes another western trip. Whi. Cason who was reported in lest correspondence as just returned from the west and in very delicate health, has since his return been improving slowly and we hope he will soon bo able to be about again. O. W. Daly has been called to Momence, 111. to work in the Tellegraph office thero for a few days, Mr. Kirby from Kankakee is working in his stead at this place. Died, —On Tuesday morning June 21., Mann Neier, a respected young man of this neighbor-hood aged 24 years; after a short but severe attact of the “Typhoid Malaria” fever was called to give up all earthly labor, and an 6 o’clock a. m. the tabernacle of elay no longer contained its most valued jewel. The spirit had taken its departure. The remains were moved to Cloverdale ‘"’for interment.
The C. & I. C. Ry. Co. has erected a temporary Depot at Wheatfield. The site chosen for the permanent one which is soon to be built soon is located near the crossing of the two roads being almost 80 rods from town. This site chosen is not satisfactory for the majority of the people as it is too far distant from town. John Heil has purchased another team of horses. L. P. Shirer the trustee hag let ‘several jobs of grade running to the settlement in the northern part of the township. To have this grade made passable will be of great advantage to the people in that part as well as great help to the town of Wheatfield. -HLirweat, is here, and the little birds have not tp report to their mother lark that the neighbors did not come; but the owners of the grain have set to work with cradles and -reapers. The work will be done. -
