The Indiana Gas Field.

Crawforilsvlllu Journal, . - The gas field of Indiana, so far as lias been developed, is confined to an area of sixty miles long from east to west, §tnd twenty miles wide from north to south. The strongest wells seem to be in tke.westo.yu half of this area. The northern lino, stretches from Kokomo on the west to Portland on the eastj and the southern from Noblesville to V. inch-ester* The gieatest llow of gas is found at - o.biesville . and .Viiuerxm, with magnificent wells at the ’nterveinng points of l'airmount and Jonesboro. Within the area mentioned there are thirty W‘4b in operation as follows: NobtoMiile, two; Kokomo, four pH arth>rd ‘City, one;-Portland, throe: T inyhestor. two.;.' Muncia sevieii: Anderson, Pairniount, Alex-nnlrin, ihiwo I, -Eaton, Pendleton and ■Jonesboro one each, and Marion three.. 7 The four strongest wdlfF are at -Nohlesvilie, Anders-Mi, Fairmont* and. Jonesboro, and they stand inthe order named. Kokomo has the best group of wells. The wells range in depth from 805 feet at Anderson to 1899 L et at Whmhes- i ter.
