IN MEMORIAM.
“There is no death, what seems so is transition." Full well the poet spake the words of cheer. Full well the All-wise Father makes provision For those who wander in affliction here. Defended by his staff, no ill befalls us, No terrors try nor enemies affright. The Valley of the Shadow, naught appalls us, He guides unerring through the darkest night Sweet Agnes, trusting in the wonderous story Of Ressurrection, bought by intercession dear Full resting in the hope of future glory. Crossed the chill-tide, with neither doubt nor fear. O Word, of comfort, to affliction given ; How well she proved your grand, enduring truth ; This fragile blossom culled to bloom in heaven. In the pure radience of her tender youth. She taught a nobler lesson by her dying Than sermon, song or deathless scroll reveals; The simple truth that faith in Christ, undying Unlocks the hidden Credo’s "seven sea Is ” Then let us not, in fruitless lamentation, Bewail her transit to the spheres of light; But with her pure and Christ like resignation Still strive, through pain, to fathom out the - right. For by these griefs and cares of brief duration, We reach a stronger and a surer faith; We come to Christ through many tribulations And through His word, like her, shall conquer death. G.N.
