A Mistake Pointed Out.

Editor Republican. —l would like to have you rectify a mistake; you charge the Board of Commissioners being partial to Remington. (“The Board of Commissioners are asked to follow the precedent they have established in Remington by paying all the cost of the bridge except $75 which the town will pay”) The above is a mistake, the bridge we built in the corporation of Remington last fall is a 50 foot span Iron Bridge and stone abutments and cost $920, the county appropriated $450. Now the petition to the Board was this: Length of bridge 5 feet by 50 feet wide, across Make-em-self; and I think S4OO will build the stono aroh and our ap- j propriatiouis S3OO. SB3O is the entire amount of permanent improvements of iron and stone that Remington hfts been furnished by the county. In Rensselaer the amount is $7,100 or over eight times as much as in Remington Respectlully, O. P. Tabor. We cheerfully give place f<>r Mr. Tabor’s correction of the statement contained in the sentence which he quotes above. The bridge which we there referred to, we find not to be within the corporate limits of the town of Remington, j but upon the line which divides , the town from Carpenter township. We disclaim, however, the intention which Mr. Tabor seems to attribute to us, of charg--1 ing the Board with partiallity towards Remington. We had no ; such meaning; nor do we think j the easual remark referred to, justifies the construction Mr. Tabor gives it. As to the final action which the Board took in regard to the bridge over Makemself, we can say that we do not thiuk that the people of Rensselaer have any good grounds for complaint. The amount appropriated seems to us liberal enough, under the circnmstances.
