J«esee is holding a protrusted meeting at the Ridge this week. r Mrs. Lena Cook and Mr. Felix Parker are numbered oh the sick list, this week. Mr. James Jacks returned from the far West last week on h visit. He will remain here about three weeks. The young folks of this place enjoyed a splendid oyster supper and social party at Mr. Will McConnahay’s, last Saturday evening. Mr. Clarence Peregrine return- " ed from the West last week. He has visited Kansas, Nebraska, Dakota. Minnesota and Colorado. He thinks of going back in the tSpringT” Dr. Smith held quarterly meeting at Pleasant Ridge last Saturday and Sunday. He had a good audience on Saturday but the weather was too bad for the most of the people on Sunday. Dr. Smith is very old and preached in this country over .‘K3 years ago. Reporter.
WALKER ITEMS. Mis. Wes Ferrel's health is very poorly. Mrs. Kate Tinkham and family are visiting her brother, ThombClark, at Hobart, Ind. Lewis and Herman Hasselbring of Illinois, are visiting theirbrothHasselbring, of this tp. The law office of J. F. Pettet «k Co., in our town, is ready for all legal business pertaining to the practice. Miss Delta Hasselbring has gone to Chicago where she has found employment. • She is greatly missed by a host of friends. There is a protracted meeting in progress at the Frog Pond school house, conducted by the Rev. Cheedle. It has met with limited success.
Harman Clark and Rosa Wenrick, on Sunday, the 23rd inst., by mutual agreement cast their common interest upon the foaming seas of matrimony. May their future be bright is the wishes of their many frieude^ Our new town is spreading in magnitude, importance and space. It has already outgrown one city and a site for two more have been f dotted and surveyed, one on the arm of Henry Niman, which bears his name, and the other on the property of August Heilseher, which inherits the name of Hogan. * %

There was to have been a shooting match in town Saturday, but a 6 the people are not so anxious for turkey as some time ago, the shooting was a failure. Miss Maud Lewis, one of the Gill&m school teachers, but who at present is teaching in Pulaski ; Co., was visiting in Wheatfield Silas Graham was on Wednesday last wedded to a young lass. The bride lived ,near Medarwille. The groom returned home' with] his bride Saturday. Several ear loads of hay have! been shipped from this point on the C. <fc L C. railroad the last lew days. Wood is being shipped mainly on the I I. * L railroad. J. F. Pefctet, of Walker township, boarded the train on Monday, at this place, bound for Dele* ware, Ohio, where he expects to

Robinson came in from the eastern counties, last week, with 105 head of line looking cattle. ... Miss JSlla Handley, one of the several State Normal students of this towi ship, is now taking the course called measles. We understand she has had hard work in that special branch. On last Friday the people of Gillam were called upon to pay their last respects at the funeral services, conducted at the Chapel by Rev. Webb, of George W. Posey, one of their highly esteemed citizens, who died at his home, on Thursday morning, after an illness of nearly three months. The final conclusion was that his death was caused by an absess in the TiTp. The deceased has always been an honest, upright and Christian man. He leaves a widow and 2 children. X. * FROM ANOTHER CORRESPONDENT. The wheat crop looks well after such cold weather. Miss Anna Des Elms is recovering slowly, after her severe sick spell. * ; If any one wants a sleigh made to order, call on Edward Paris, who is prepared to make them on short notice.
Rev. John Sebring, of Medaryville, hag purchased two lots and is going to build soop. -~~ Capt. A. G. Robb apd wife are to return home from the west this weea, where they have been visiting friends the past six weeks. George Dunn Las returned home after a period of two years in Rang., Mo., Neb. and lowa. He says that lowa is the best place, Peter Nash and John Faris have purchased a new buzz saw' and are ready to saw for anyone that is wishing to have sav'ing done. Peter says that of all the saw's Le ever saw he never saw a saw that saws like his saw saws.
