Circuit Court Expenses.
: The twtul oust to 0l« conr.ty of the late term of the circuit court was $472.75. An unusually sinali sum, owing mainly to the fpc! that no petit jury was called into JShrice. Of the above sum $145.19 was for pay and mileage of grand jurors;*sl67.Bo for sheriff;ss955 for clerk’s sendees; $21.50 for room bailiff;, S2O for official reporter; S2O for printing dockets and sls for jury commissioners.
Big Fire at Wolcott,
A dispatch from Lafayette, in yesterday’s Inicr-Occdn says: A fire broke out at Wolcott, White county, nt one o’cl ck this morn ing, which destroyed about half of the town. The Peck Hotel, three large dwelling houses, the Christian church and all its contents, one saloon, and a great many outhouses were entirely consumed The, fire originated in a shed in the rear of the Peck Hotel, and when discovered had gained such headway that the bucket-brigade could do nothing toward extin gnashing the flames. The loss will be about SIO,OOO, with vary littl« insurance.

J. C. Porter has rented his hay ;barn and grain buying business b Percy Taylor, and his coal trade to R. P. Benjamin, and in company with his step-son, Wnj. Salter, in tends starting a bank iu Paoli, the county seat of Orange county. The style of the new firm will be Porter & Salter. Mr. Salter left for Paoli Tuesday evening and Mr. Porter will go next week The latter’s family will remain here for the winter, probably. Paoli is a thriving town of about 800 inhabitants and havinp just got its first railroad, a branch of the L. N. A. & C. it is likely to experience something of a boom. Messrs. Porter & Salter’s bank will be the first to be established there.
