REMINGTON ITEMS. E. E. Yeoman visited friends in Remington Inst Sunday. ■IS ~ ' _T John Rockwood, son of Hon. E. E. Rockwood has been qnite >iek, but is convalescent. Rev. \V. El. Vance left on Tues, day of last week for his home and work in Weeping Water, Neb. Miss Wilcox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orson Wilcox, is dangerously ill. But little hope i» entertained of her recovery. Mrs. M. J. Phelp returned on Thursday evening last from a pleasant visit of three weeks duration with friends in Chicago. Mr. Christopher Hardy is m iking handsome and substantial improvements on his premises, opposite the Presbyterian church. Mrs H. C. Phelps is visiting friends in Manteno, 111., pending the arrival of her husband from California, when they will return about Nov. Ist The barn on the premises owd- • od by Mr. Ben. Will Middlesworth left on Mon- ■ day of last week to take a lucrative and responsible position in a store in Pullman, ill. He has for many years filled a, similar position with a firm of this place and filled it ably. - Rev. J. B, Crowe left for Waveband, Ind , last Monday morning, having received a telegram announcing the death of the youngest son son of Dr. and Mrs. Vannys of that place anil grandson of Mr. Crowe. The services in Jhe Presbyterian church last Sunday evening, were the last that will be held in the church as it now stands. The evening w r as devoted to reminiscences and social conversation. Interesting papers were read by Mrs. Robert Parker, Mrs. John Burger, Joseph Petfiey, Mr. Bloom, and others. Mrs. Wm Shaw, Mr. Real, Mr. Garrison and others made interesting and appropriate remarks It was good to be there. Remingtonian. ROSE LA WN ITEMS. We ace going to have a political speech here Thursday evening. The Hon. 1. D. Dunn will address the people. ’ ■' .. Mr. Percy Taylor is building a large hay barn here and intends to have it full of hay all winter. I understand he is one of the heaviest hay shippers in this district. We notice several of the Rensselaer citizens in town this week, namely: Mr.' James Douthit, Mr. S. P. Thompson, our next State Senator, and last but not least, T. J. Farden, the lively organ' agent. By the way, we noticed something on the street this and after enquiring of several people, found out that it was the Pattont Doctor that says , if the people will elect him over Mr. Thompson, be will do all in his power for the Democracy. How badly he will get left. Ex Jasperite HANGING GRO VE AND VICINITY. Schools all doing splendidly. Mr. George Warner, of Winamac, ithe guest of Miss Etta Lefler for a few days. Mr. Will Stirfts left here for Illinois last Monday for the purpose of gathering corn. Rev. Noland held services at Dixie school house last Saturday night, San day forenoon and Sunday night.
