Barkley tp., was arrested, last Saturday on the charge of assault and battery, at the instance of another old .man, “Yankee” Nichols, also of Barkley. Hamilton is under 8100 bail to appear in the circuit court, tomorrow. Elder and Mrs. R. S. Dwiggins and Mrs. Alfred Thompson reach- j ed home Monday evening, from - their attendance at the quarterly ‘ conference of the Church of God, at Antioch, this state. The Elder will preach at the Christian church, next Sunday morning, at 10:30 a. m. Rosa, the balloon manager, of Lafayette, advertises that he will give an exhibition there, at the time mentioned, at which the principle attraction will be a balloon race, be*tween two huge balloons, one carrying Prof. Manley, of Lafayette, the other Prof. Smith, "of Chicago,, both of whom ' will 1 give daring trapeze performances, in- mid-air. In additions will be match games of base-ball, a foot race, potato race, sack race &c. The .Rensselaer Band lias been engaged to furnish music for the occasion.
