Most of the schools have begun, and soinc ol them arc out. —Mr;; dohn Willy is going to. work one mouth at the Ridge. The young folks are preparing for their graduation exercises, Mrs. John Pitllins is now sick and is not able to be up. Mr. Wm. Bull has moved to his farm south of South Lawn school house. Some are plowing for corn now. The ground is in good shape this spring to plow. Grass will be checked for a few days. It has got a nice start and the cattle are all turned out. Mrs. Prank Ott has been sick for some time. She is now under the Care of Dr. I. B. Washburn. Reckless Jack.
FROM WIIEATFJELD CENTER Fine spring weather. Wheatfield schools are closed for the summer*. Mrs. Frank Walton visited her parents last* week. The Hebron creamery wagon will start on the road next week. Mr. Booth had a nephew from west visiting him last week. Winifred Booth, who is teaching in Lake couuty, visited her home last Saturday and Sunday. Sunday school at the Center held the first meeting last Sabbath, with Mr. Wm. Myers as superintendent. The K. and Wi C. L. S., assisted by Mrss Dunn’s school from Porter county, gave afi exhibition last Saturday evening. A great amount of literary and dramatic talent was exhibited. About 200 people witnessed the exercises, which were held in the upper story of Mr. Brey’snew barn. Miss Flora Collins and Messrs. Tilton and Grubbe furnished some excellent violin music. General good order prevailed, notwithstanding the fact that a few* delicate young men who were not acclimated, had fortified themselves against Kankakee malaria and possible snake bites. Chris-

The services at the Christian church are increasing in interest and the church is increasing in numbers, nightly. —The religous feeling that has been awakened here during the past few weeks is still active and apparently on the increase. • Mrs. Albert Bellows, w’ho lias been under the care of Dr. Snow at Lafayette, for the past five weeks returned on Friday evening last much improved in health. We inadvertently omitted to lh6„iact that Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Lally have taken ft young ladv as a permanent boarder, but such is the fact. No ponder Pat steps high. Win. Virgil, an • old citizen of this vicinity, died at Ms home, four miles southeast of town last Sunday evening, after a lingering illness. The funeral took place on Tuesday at Gil boa. —- The outer foundations for J. E, Holiett’s new fire-proof building on South Ohio street were laid by competent workmen "from Goodland. Work on the building will begin soon. The Phelps Bros, are “enlarging” then - field of operations by building an addition to their store room, 66 feet long and 24 feet ' wide. We are glad to note these | evidences of prosperity.
