Dehorning Cattle.
Lafayette Call. Hi H, Haaff,/of Atkinson, Henry county, Illinois, is in the city, 'endeavoring to interest ourjstoek raisers hereabouts in tlio cattle dehorning business. Wednesday he met a number of our citizens at the otiiceof Mort. Levering, to whom he explained how the work was done, and dilated largely upon its advantages to the cattle themselves as well as to their owners. There wore present among cftlibrs, John W. Heath, John G. and R. W. SumpleJ.Geargo Seeger, A. J. Godhian, Dr. J~ W. Mullen, and Mr. Childs, of Montana. : The , latter is Gs large cattle breeder, and seemed with the balance of the gentlemen Vary much* interested. Mr. llaaff is the owner of 4,oooacres of grazing land in Illinois, forty miles this side of Rook Island, add is at the [>reseht time feeding oyer three hundred head of cattle, of different breeds and ages, all of the best blood, each and every oqo of which has been dehorn of. As explained by him the act of removing the horns is one that causes very little pain, and that only for an instant, while, he illustrated, the benefits are incalculable. The Illinois Society tor the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals last winter had him arragned before the courts for practising and advocating bis fa orke theory but he gained the ease, and was entirely exonerated. This gentleman is an excellent talker, and his remarks, explanations and illustrations, were listened to by those present for an hour, with pleas ure. This morning ho went to the John W. Heath stock f-arm, whore he gave oractieat exhibitions of his system, and dehorned quite a large number of that gentleman’s cattle. Mr. Heath is enthusiastic over the matter, and will probably adopt the plan with all his herds of cattle.

Those cases not amenable to the curative influence of Ayer’s Pills alone will certainly yield If the Pills are aided by the powerful bloodpurifying properties of Ayer’s Sarsaparilla. The fitful activity into which the enfeebled - stomach is spurred bv “bitters,” and alcoholic stimulants, is inevitably followed by reaction that leaves the organ weaker than before. “Costiveness, Induced by my sedentary habits of life, became chronic; Ayer’s Pills afforded me speedy relief.
