Mrs. B. F. Ferguson is very seriously sick. The people of Logan sport and Lafayette are preparing to bore for gas and coal-oil. Born:— To Mr. and Mrs. H. S'. Mr. Delos Thompson and his bride, uee Miss J ulia Skinner, of Battle Creek, Mich., arrived here on Sunday. * Don’t use the old style of whitewash,.that will crock and crumble off, but use a better substance, Aiabastine. For sale at F. B. Meyer’s drug store. . . Preaching at the Presbyterian church next Sabbath, at. 10:30 a. m., and 7 o’clock p. m., by Rev. S. Benson, of Chicago. A cordial invitation is extended to all Christian people to attend.. - Strayed. —A white Bull-dog, dark on each side of head and ears, one round dark spot on back, strayed from Rensselaer, last week Wednesday. A good reward will be given for his return. AY. C. Sliead. The Rev. AV. H. Sayler gives notice of an intended public sale. He intends to remove to Homer, La Sale county, Illinois, within a short time, where he will engage in ministerial labors, and. also pursue n course of theological studies.

The surpassingly eloquent and 'Upremely humorous lecturer, Hon. \Vill Cumbrck, of Indiana, will give his famous lecture, “The I Invisible ‘Some People’,” at the 1 Opera House next Tuesday evening, March 16th. Mr. Cumback, is, by universal ponsent, pronounced one of the very foremost lecturers of the country, and the chance for hearing him is a rare privilege that all who possibly can should avail themselves of. I ' A s|d and unusual occurence was the double funeral, last Saturday, of Mr. and Mrs- Zirnri Dwiggina’ little four-year-old daughter, Ona; and Mr. and Mrs. Yal. Serb’s infant daughter, Belle. The death of the former took place Friday, of scarlet fever, al the residence of her parents, m Oxford. Little Belle died Saturday morning, tery suddenly, of convulsions. The body of Ona was brought here for burial,! and the funeral services for both the little corpees were held at the same time, at Mr. Seib’s residence, on River street Itwas a sad and touching scene. The lief. Handley, of Rensselaer, and Crafts, of Oxford, had change of the religion* servxoe*. .
“The Invisible ‘Some People’ ”, At the Opera Rouse, Tuesday evening; C. AV. Spriggs, of Chicago, was a guest at J. F. AA'arren’s, over Sunday. Found. —A gold ring, near the depot. Owner must prove property, and pay for this notice. Call at this office. N. V. Cleaver has traded hiß hardware stock to J. K, Van Yoorst, of AVhite county, for the latter’s farm. Mr. Yan Voorst has already taken possession of the store. The March term of the Jasper Circuit Court convenes next Monday. The number of new cases on the docket is about 30, or rather more than the average number. August Makus, with his broken leg, has got well enough to return to his home in Union townships The County Commissioners paid Mr. Colton $Bl for caring for him. Dr. H. O Jones, the new physician of Medaryville, was in town last Friday. He graduated in medicine in the Medical College of Indiana, in Indianapolis, last month.
Jas. A Yeoman and wife, Miss Maggie Israel, Mrs. S. B. Coen, Marsh AYarren andC. M. Hopkins’ young son, Claude, all started in a single party, for Greensburg, Kansas, last Monday. One of the very brightest stars in the lecturing firmament will be at the Opera House next Tuesday evening.. The Hou. Will Cumback, brilliant, witty and wise, who was a member of Congress 'before he was 26 years, who has been Lieu tenant Governor of Indiana, who has been twelve .years upon the lecture platform, will be at the Opera House next Tuesday night. He is the only first class lecturer that has visited Rensselaer this winter, and he ought to be heard by just about everybody. People who have claims against the C. & G. S. railroad must make proof of their claims, before the I master of sale, previous to March 27th, the date upon which the road is to be sold In Rensselaer the attorneys before whom proofs of claims may be made are E. P. Hammond and S. P. Thompson; either of whom will see that the claims are properly. filed, before the master of the sale. \n Died. —his home in Hammond Ind., of bn in disease, after a long illness, i homas Burroughs, at the age of about 60 years. Mr. Burroughs was long a prominent citizen of Jasper county, and once filled the office of county Treasurer. He removed to Hammond about three years ago. The remains were brought here for burial, and the funeral was held yesterday, in the Church of God; the Ret. B. F. F erguson preaching the sermon.
