Economy.

But few persons take time to study the rich results of economy. If by prudent care and good judgment in expenses, each man, woman, and child in the United States were to save one cent a day, more than they have been in the practice of doing, it would soon pay the Natiorial debt. It would amount to $3.65 per year from each one. Counting our population 55,000,000, it would amount in a year to $200,750,000, or in twenty years it would amount to $4,015,000,000. But if one-fifth of the population of United States, or 11,000,000 men and boys should smoke two cigars per day. (this is a reasonable calculation, us many thousands.of them would average more than half a dozen), but two cigars a day at 5 cents'each, would be $11,000,000 per year, or in twenty years $2,200,000,000, or more than the present public debt. How great, then, is economy.— Exchange.
