Imprpvenienls tor 188.1 and their value. Below we give an approximately cor- • rect list of all the new buildings erected j iu the town during the year which closes tOrnuorrpw, and also of the more important improvements to buildings already erected. The list is not large enough, nor does, it lepreseut outlay enough, to say that the town hasenjoyed a “building boom,” during the year, but it is large enough to present a very gratifying exhibit of the sure and solid growth of the town; and it is all the more gratifying for the Reason that the year has been, generally speaking, a’ very dull year. In explanation of the figures given below, we should state j that the values given have mostly been | obtained from the owners themselves, although in a few instances- where it was not convenient to see the- owners, we have depended upon the estimates of others: S.
