Commissioners’ Court Notes.
Rrgnlar Session. The taxes of Mrs. Jennie Hawkins, of Rensselaer and Mrs. Joseph Price, of Barkley tp., poor persons; were remitted, Baker & Thornton, of Indianapolis, who have the contract for furnishing stationery for the current year, submitted a proposition to have their contract continued another year, without competition. The Board declined to consider the proposition’. This firm does not want the earth, but if they did,| modesty would not prevent their asking for it - Thursday.-—The Auditor was directed to notify the various blank book and stationery houses of Lafayette, Logansport, Indianapolis and Chicago that sealed bids for furnishing county stationery for one year, will be received until 10 o’clock, March sth.
The Auditor was also directed to notify the physicians of the county that at the March term the contracts for doctoring the poor of the various townships would be awarded. Friday.—The taxes of Elizabeth Hilton, a poor person of Gillam tp., were ordered remitted. Supt. Phillips, of the p<>or farm, having shown that the farm was not the proper place to kftTep the dangerous crank, Thomas < oghill, the board arranged with the Sheriff to take charge of the said ('oghill, and receive for the same four dollars a week.
Saturday.—The bounty Recorder was authorized to copy general index No. 4, the same being in such bad condition as to render new binding impracticable. The work is to be well done, and SIBO paid for the same. The recorder was also ordered to have Index to Mortgages No. 2, and Deed Recoid No. 10, rebound. Desirable town lots in Rensselaer, for dwelling purposes. Hard pan for cash, or time, to suit purchasers. Frank AV. Babcock.
