William allace, the brick-lay-er, went to Lafayette last Friday, with the intention of going South foi the winter. He came back on Saturday however, and states that on Friday night, about midnight, while going to the Wabash depot in L -fayette, lie was from behind by a strong man, his mouth covered by a handkerchief, while : two other men went through his i pockets toiicLrifled them of all their ! Valuable contents, including twelve ' or fourteen dollars in money,- and ; a railroad ticket to New Orleans. I They also took from from him 1 the valise he was carrying, and j then started to run away. Tliey t soon found the valise to heavy to run with, however, and threw it over a fence into the yard of a residence, wheie Mr. Wallace found! it. It is stated that -Mr W allace ' Tms still a large Ink ip on Ids back-, • ecu >ed by tile knee of the strong . man who he’d him in his vise-like I ’ grip. It is a noteworthy fact that • none of the Lafayette papers have ! had anything to s:iy of this ; emaik ; able case, ■ ■
