At Atlanta, Ga., Henry C. Pope probably fatally shot • Colonel Albert Howell, brother of the editor-in-chief of the Daily nstitxilionCo. P#pe had asked questions regarding the arrival of a train, and Howell answering that he knew nothing about it. Pope called him a liar. The Colonel then knocked Pope down with an inkstand, and the latter upon rising fired the fatal shot. A TRAIN on a narrow-gauge North "Carolina was thrown down an embankment near Gastonia and twelve passengers were seriously injured. Another train was sent into the’ river at Warm Springs, by which , an engineer and fireman lost,their lives.... R. L. Fulton, Mayor of Galveston, assaulted Colonel R. G. Lowe, managing editor of the AVi/'s, with a large ebony cane. Both were bloody when separated by the spectators. The stallion Epaulet, worth S3OO three years ago, was sold at Lexington, Ky., to Robert Steele, of Philadelphia, for $22,500. ....Antoine Pellegrini was killed in a strdet duel at New Orleans by Charles Camp, who accused him of having insulted his family. ...
