Rensselaer Republican, Volume 18, Number 10, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 12 November 1885 — A New Town Marshal. [ARTICLE]
A New Town Marshal.
A special meeting of the Town Board was held Monday night, to consider the question of accepting the resignation of Town Marshal Alter, and electing a successor to fill out his unexpired term. The resignation was accepted and Henry Wood chosen to fill the vacancy. Two ballots were taken, at the 4 first of which Burgess Dillon received two votes and Wm. Warren and Mr. Wood each one. At the second ballot the vote for Wood was unanimous. There is said to be considerable probability that Mr. Wood will not accept, aS he has a steady job on the railroad, as a section hand.
