What township cam make a better showing? The first institute of Newton was held last Saturday at Saylorville. Ail of the , teachers Were present, but two of them, were tardy. Mr. D. B. Nowels was chosen chairman for the year and Dorothea Goetz, secretary. The literary exercises were excellent. Mr. L . E. Glazebrook of Marion tp,, and Miss Margaret Hil’, of Rensselaer, were pres ent and rendered valuable assistance. Miss Hill gave two valuable talks—one on Drawing and one on Literature, which were much appreciated by ail. * *
