The County Commissioners.
Besides the whisky cases, mentioned last week, the County Commissioners transacted a large amount of miscellaneous business, mostly in the line of road and bridge matters, and miscellaneous claims The contract for furnishing coal to the court house, jail and poor farm, for t):e winter, was given to Sigler & Goff. The trustee cf Milroy tp. was authorized to incur an indebtedness of SIOO. J. W. Powell was appointed constable of Marion township. The boundary line between Marion and Union townships was so amended and established that the line now begins about the center of section 26 and runs thence due east to about the center of section 25. From thence it follows the center of the Iroquois river iu a general southeast direction a distance ot about one and a half miles, to a point a little east of the center of section 31 thence east a short distance to the Barkley tp. iine. A special session was hold Monday to determine the business of building a new bridge over Carpenter’s creek, near Richey’s place. The Canton Wrought Iron Bridge Company, of Ohio, was given the contra ct for putting in a bridge with both substructure and superstructure of iron —a new feature in bridge building in Jasper county, The total cost of the bridge is to be $950, and it is to be completed by Nov. Ist.
