The Signal Service publishes reports of 186 tornadoes in the United States during 1884. More than one thousand buildings were destroyed by these storms. The States in which torfiadoes were most frequent were • Georgia, Sputlr Carolina, and Alabama.
President Cleveland has issued a proclamation declaring invalid the leases of lands for grazing purposes in the Cheyenne and Arapahoe reservations, Indian Territory, and ordering the removal of all cattle held by persons other than Indians from such land within forty days. This action was advised by Gen. Sheridan, at whose suggestion the President has also designated Capt. Lee, of the Ninth InJantrjiy.to act as agent of the Cheyennes and Arapahoes at Dariington. Gen. Sheridan telegraphs Gov. Martin, of Kansas, that the irritation among these tribes was the result of bad control, and that there is no longer any danger of an outbreak. President Cleveland will probably, not Begin his summer vacation until the middle of August. He will then visit the Adirondacks, and it is his present intention to remain there through the month of September. He had intended to leave the national capital last week, but the death of Gen. Grant has altered his plans. Secretary Lamar will accompany him on his fishing tiip.
