OBITUARY.
Isaac Newton Varis was born Dec. 1828, in Green county, Ohio. He moved from there to Indiana in 1857. He resided in this state from that time until his death which occured July 5, 1885. He* was married in 1860. His married life was bteshed with two cbild‘ren. In about three years after their marriage his young wife ana children were called away by death, and fbr more than twenty years, he walked through life alone. In 'early life he joined the M. E. Church, but We regret to. say he failed to keep bis holy pledge, and for years he wandered id the realm of sin and scepticism. When his last sickness came, and be realized that he was nearing eternity, he denounced his scepli al ido-s and turn d to the Cross. His earnest search after the truth as it is io Jesus, was not in vain, for on his dying couch he testified to the divine reality of the Christian religion, and that he had found the pearl of great pric *, and that he was ready for the change from earth to heaven. We may confidently lest in the assurance of his eternal salvation. Thus we have another triumph for out holy Christianity. It is but a repetition of the jast, Sin and unbelief will do to live by (in the view of many) but when the fidul hour comes, that will thoroughly test every man’s faith it has been proven again and again that the bed is too short and the covering to narrow, to give solace to the failing heart. Ou the otheV hand thos« who have belief in Je's'fix, and have “walked with him in white” have noth-, ing to regret, btit ca'hnly waited fbr the coming of the ahgelk and the sou of man, and when they cam'e, with them they passed in triumph to their home beyond the skies. The only safe way is the ‘narrow way” marked out by the world’s Redeemer. Walking in that we shall find at its terminus the crown of glory. ,
