A long series of resolutions were adopted, denouncing the administration for paying honors to the memory of ex- Secretary Jacob Thompson, for appointing “unrepenting rebels" to important offices. and for “discriminating” against ''Union soldiers; demanding the rigid enforcement of the civil-service law, and an enlargement of its scope; expressing sympathy, for Gen. Grant, and denouncing ~ the Democratic party of Ohio for the “destruction of the Scott law.” Ihe New Hampshire Legislature elected A. B. Thompson, Secretary of State; John B. Clarke, State Printer; Solon A. Cartet, State Treasurer, and Frank P. Brown, - Commissary General. .On the first ballot the Republicans Of the New Hampshire Legislature renominated Senator Henry W. Blair; The Republicans of Chicago have finally determined to contest the right of Carter H. Harrison to hold his seat as Mayor of the city. The management of the contest has been placed in the hands of a committee of five prominent Republicans.
