Death of Gen. McDowell.
TSan Francisco dispatch.] Maj. Gen. Irvin McDowell died at midnight last night. His death is due to pyloric disease of the stomach. Ho had been in a critical condition for the past two weeks. Gen. McDowell was born in Ohio, Oct. 15, 1818; was graduated at West Point in 1838; served in the Mexican war; was made a Brigadier General in the Federal army in May, 1861, and in July following commanded at the first battle of Bull Run. He was appointed Major General of Volunteers, March 14. 1862; was in active service during the war, and at its close was promoted to the giade of Major General in the regular army.
