Dancing and Praying.
A charming story is told in the memoirs' of Peter Cartwright, now little read and therefore worth producing. I have not the book with me, unfortunately, and therefore I write from my note book: Cartwright was once present at a country ball. A beautiful girl with golden hair came up to him and asked him to dance. “Dance with you, my dear, of course I will.” And he rose merrily and took his place among the dancers. But before the round began he spoke up cheerily and said; “My good friends, this lovely girl has asked mo to dance, and I have not refused. Beauty is one of God’s blessings, and who would be so rude as to refuse a blessing. This fair being has been kind to me, my friends; let ns get down on our knees, and thank God that he has been so kind to ns all.” The gallant Cartwright and the girl with thq golden hair set the example and the rest of the company followed, and the missionary soon had a revival meeting after his own heart then and there. f!."‘ ' " ■ ~
