CHIPS FROM WALKER.
Weather oold, plenty of snow on the ground, especially in the roads, as it is drifted considerable. ■ ■ ' v ‘ Health generally good, and business lively in this part of Walker. All the schools are getting along line, with the exception of the scratches. Mr. John Hershruan, while drawing water for the cattle, last week, slipped and fell, hurting Jnjpself very badly, breaking one or two ribs, but he is getting along very well no\y. Although it is very cold, Mr. Frank Tlershmau has lately been son-struck—-a ltf pounder. Messrs. Wm. Warren and Bruce White, both of Rensselaer, accompanied by Millie and OUie Ziok, were the guests of Mr. Ziok's family, last week. Mr. Salrin has just returned home from his visit in Ohio, ho intended'buying some cattle there, but he say’s cattie are higher there than here. The Literary at the Hershman school house is. doing splendidly, and has a good attendance.
REMINGTON ITEMS.
Mr. and Mrs. John Tharp are the proud possessors of a new son just thirty-live years to a <Jay younger than its father. He arrived last Saturday. Rev. Isham. of Monticello, occupied the pulpit of the M. E. Church, last Sunday. He is a young naan of fine promise and will doubtless make an able and successful minister. The skating rink draws large crowds of spectators and skaters, and the proprietors are making money, hand over fist. Elder Nye conducted quarterly meeting services for the United Brethren last Saturday and Sunday He is an able and convincing speaker. He was assisted by Rev. Penny, the minister in charge of. the congregation at this place, —— - r - The elevators at this point are kept busy day and night, hardly stopping long enough to pay respect to the Sabbath day. The roads are good and corn is pouring into the town. Freight cars are in lively demand with a fair supply. ! Felix R. Donnelly arrived here from Dakota, a week or two ago, looking well enough to make a standing advertisement for the climate of the booming young Territory. Everything that looks like a .sleigh has been pressed into service during the” last few days. By the way our County Superintendent dashes around in an elegant, plush lined new cutter, to the music of a bran new string ol bells. A man named Zimmer, living about <5 miles from town, got on a drunken spree, which came near teunii ating fatally. He started for no me and when about two miles out was thrown lrom his sleigh. Ow.ng to his condition h i was almost helpless but managed to crawl on his bauds and to a house not far distant, whore he was warmed and cared for until he was able to be taken home.
