In The Justice's Court.

Sarah Thrasher and Hattie Wil* bar, two alleged soiled 4<>ves. in. mates of what is kaoxw as “The White house” a ‘‘house of ill shape” up near the railroad, were arrested last Wednesday evening, under a variety of charges, the chief of which was keeping or .frequenting a house of ill-fame. Their ease came up the next day before Squire Purcupile; the bold chivalrous Dan. Fraser, of Fowler appearing for the defense, and Deputy Prosecutor Douthit, for the prosecution. After an ineffectual attempt to secure the quashing of the indictment, on some frivolous pretext or other, Fraser took a change of venue to Squire Wood, The Thresher woman, only, was tried. The trial «f Hattie Wilber was to have come off latei, but as the sapient justice allowed her to go home Thursday night, on her own recognizance, she skipped from the town, and has not yet returned. The Thresher trial lasted nearly all day Thursday, drew a large crowd, and created considerable amusement for the spectators, The venerable Justice after hearing the evidence i n the case, or at least so much of it as lie deemed admissible under those marvelously ingenious crime concealers, the “rules of evidence”, decided to acquit the prisoner, bhe was tried the next day, on the charge of being drunk in a public place, but with the same result as to verdict, as the previous trial.
