D. M. Nelson, the tireless Superintendent, came home on Monday of this week to spend the holidays. L. W. Reyrogle, of the News, spent Chistmas with, with, well with his girl, in Monticella. We give it as our unbiased opinion that 0.. B. Melntire makes a “boss" editor. He should turn his attention to literary pursuits in the future. Our merchants and druggists are doing a thriving holiday business. Santa Claus is going to be unusually Jiberal this year. J. O. B. McDougle’s new building on JL £. street is rapidly approaching completion. We understand that it is his intention to occupy it himself. The county teachers are gathering home to spead vacation and have .a good time after the arduous labors of the past two or three mouths. A gale from the Arctic regions seems to be visiting this temperate climate. The Dakotians now in Remington say that nothing in that land of blizzards ever compared with this. We hope the Editor, compositors, correspondents, subscribers and everybody connected with the Republican may have a Meiry Christmas and a JNew Year full of prosperity. The ladies of the Presbyterian church have prepared a tree for the members of the Sunday school. The presents will be distributed on Christmas Eve witff appropriate exercises. As tneso lactie3 are noted for their taste and enterprise it wUI no doubt be a ant affair. The members of the Union .Sunday school will a!si give an entertainment in Exchange Hall on Christmas night.
