GILLAM AND BARKLEY ITEMS.

A deep snow has fallen, and the boys and girls are rejoicing in the hope of some line sleigh rides. Mrs. Hannah Brown and Mrs. J. It. Guild spent Saturday and Sunday visiting friends near Rensselaer. D. H. Guild and L. E. Rathfon. who are teaching in Barkley township, made a brief visit to Giijqm on Saturday night and Sunday. There is to be a new church built opposite Mr. Reppy Barkley’s residence, in Barkley township. We think the good people of Barkley could have put their money to no better use. A protracted meeting is going on at independence Chape}. The people seem to be taking great interest in the work, and good is being accomplished, lhev. W. W. Jones, of Lafayette, formerly pastor of the Medary ville charge, conducted the meeting on Sunday and Sunday night. He was greeted, by all, with glad hearts and pleasant faces. Come again, Bro. Jonos. Township Institute commenced at Center school house, Barkley township, Saturday, December 13, 1884. The teachers were all present, except Miss Abbett, whose absence was occasioned by sickness. The several subjects given by the teachers were discussed with interest, and a general good time was had. The following officers were chosen for the ensuing term: D. H. Guild, President: L. E. llathfon, Vice President; Mr. Dibell, Secretary.
