THE EAST. Near Erie, Pa., Edward and Frank Root killed a deer. While dressing it they were attacked by three bears, and killed them after a desperate fight Fits l.Offfl- Barrel oil tanks were burned at Bradford, Fa., together with other valuable property.... Helps of human bones have been found in the left of a New York house. No one knows how they got there.... Boston dispatch: “Extreme cold weather and strong winds are reported from all parts of New England. At Mount Washington flie weather is the most severe since 187 G. The mercury is frozen, but the minimum registered by the spirit thermometer is 42 below zero, and still falling. A northwest, hurrioane, with an estimated velocity of over one hundred miles an hour, prevails.” A New York dispatch says that in the ruins of the burned Catholic orphan asylum at Brooklyn the charred bodies of eleven boys and tw® grown poisons were discovered. Tons of rubbish and timbers are yet to be removed, and there are fears that other corpses will be found. The roster of the little ones shows about 120 as missing, but these are supposed - to be housed in the neighborhood. Of the bodies found it is thought seven were those of children, one was a man and one a woman. Diggers are still at Work. It is thonght other bodies will be recovered. The property loss is estimated at $250,000, as the building was valued at $200,000.
