We remember some time ago of reading about a mill in which was posted up. a notice as follows: “ Don't- monkey with the bro/ saw when in motion" We were reminded of this by an-inci-dent which happened at a recent meeting of the lowa Pool Line Railroads in in Chicago, l ife Pool is composed of the various roads which run from ('ni-t-ego to Council Bluffs—Chicago & Northwestern, Chicago, Milwaukee W St. Paul, Chicago, Rock Island tic Panic, Chicago, Burlington & Quincy,, and the Wabash. The representatives of one of the roads made charges against Mr. E. St. John. General Passenger Agent of the Rock Island, of irregularity In business methods. Mr. Mr. u -t. John was absent at the time and considerable -was said in the papers about how the Rock Island was working to beat the pool, bu* upon his return he at once look up the matter and issued quite a lengthy as well as spicy circular, in which he “goes tarough" the allegations made against trim and the “alligator" very much as buz/ saw would go through the person who was so. foolish as to “monkey" '■ ith it when it was inunction.
