A Card froin Elder Halstead.
Editor Rkitbuoan, —Dear Sir:—ln your last issue 1 find a letter addressed to myee f, to Whioli i have no desire to reply fait her than to say: lam sorry you took it so personal and allowed yourself to get in so unhappy a mood. The words “Pretended special friendship for two antagonistic partiees or principles. 11 i supposed no one could construe to mean anything else than the position of the party in relation to the Iliquor tariff and Prohibition and to yourself only so far as being mouth piece for the party. The reason f delayed saying anything was simply because 1 at lirst thought you might have„forgotten or misla d it, until your attention was called to it by its publication in the Sentinel. In regard to your charge of inducing a number of Republicans to a call ltr e. Prohibition County Convention by “misrepresentation' 1 of its object or purpose. I have only ; to say that if you can find one Republican or other person who over their own signature will say that 1 ever asked them to sign it otherwise than by having them read it, or reading it to them or had any one else ask them otherwise, I will then publicly acknowledge the “misrepresentation''. But if ypiv can find no such person then you will just please say you were misinformed. Yours for Prohioltion, honesty and
iieace.
D. T. HALSTEAD.
