To All True Republicans
A Card from L. S. /lifer. Editor’s Note.—The appended card has already appeared once in The Kepublican, but it is so full of the true gospel of Republicanism, and is so specially applicable to the political situation in Jasper county at the present time, that we again make room for it. Its nolSle, manly words should “b? read and. taken to heart by every true Republican, and especially by every disappointed candidate and by the friends of all such. To the Republicans, and to my friends in general: I desire to express my thanks for the cordial support given mo, in the late Primary Election. The fact that I h avc already served six years in thy olli ce of County Surveyor, and running for another term, was enongh to d/'feat alm cist any nut n, in- ■th is Iteptib! lean, progressive age. and the support I re<?3iv ed, with so little effort on my part, • was a high .compliment in my favor, ■ Lhrt-l was defeated by, a good .man..; and . —Winy friends throughout the 1 uuuuly r and especially , in Carpenter township, < where I was-born and raised, and where I received almost the uminimous vote, I will say, I am thankful for your kind-* ness and good will, and hope you have a more worthy man on your ticket. Many of my friends have urged me to run independent, but, with due respect to their wishes, • wish to say, I . am deeiflediy opposed to going into a Primary or Convention, and then bolting their actions. I intend to work for the ticket T believe to be nearest 1 right, the one that is sure to be suecesslul, clear through, from our coming President, James G. Blaine, down to our Surveyor, J. C. Thrawls; and I hope all my friends will support the ticket, the whole ticket, and nothing but the straight Republican ticket
