Rensselaer Republican, Volume 16, Number 48, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 7 August 1884 — The Primary Election. [ARTICLE]
The Primary Election.
One week from the date of the issue of this paper the republicans of Jasper county will nominate a county ticket by the method of a primary election. This form of making, the nominations was adopted by the central committee, after full and earnest discussion, in accordance with what was thought to be the most general wish of the republicans of the county. The method is not wholly free from objections, nor could any be-selected that is so, but, on the whole, we believe that it is as satisfactory as any other, at least, and if the republicans of the county will generallv attend, with the resolution to do all in their power to make a good ticket, and secure harmonious action, the primary election will prove'to have been the best means that could have been chosen for making the nominations. The manner and form of conducting tlie primary election has been prescribed by the central committee, and in accordance with the demands of the strictest justice to both candidates and people: and at the same time giving full consideration do the - interests of the party and the convenience of the voteis. The ballots to be used are to be furnished by the central committee, and will contain the names of all known candidates, also blank spaces for writing in other names, and certain - instructions the central committee thought advisable to adopt. The ballots will be exact copies of the form herewith given:
