It it is now in order we would ask; Will Newton county now concede the Republican nomination for Representative to our Simon?—[Rensselaer Sentinel. July 10th, 1884. ”* * " * * There will be no special pains taken to please the Sentinel in ouf nomination for Representative.— [Kentland Gazette, July 17th 1884. * * * We reiterate our wish that He MAY KE.CEIVE THE NOMINATION.— Democratic Sentinel, July 25th, 1884. The Democratic Sentinel in two leading articles, too long to copy in full, makes four'serious charges against S. P. Thompson, to-wit: 1 That he has thwarted the will of the free voters in this county. > 2 That he has stirred up great strife in the Republican party of Jasper and Benton counties. 3 TSat he is supporting the Democratic nominee for Judge; and 4 Thit he edits the Kentland Gazette. The ironical wish, above CQpit d from one of said articles, rests oil the “basis of these charges', aiid is, probably, fal ehood No. 5U. L. C.
