The Charges Cannot be Ignored. Davenport GaaettF.- —; The situation with reference to the accusations against Governor Clevelands character, briefly alluded to heretofore, is now such as to call for r rather than to forbid, more explicit notice. He' is accused, upon evidence that justifies publicity, of the shameful betrayal and subsequent abandonment of a woman who trusted hjni, whij# he was in business in Buffalo. is published with circumstantial particularity of detail, east and, west and in the city of Buffalo itself. This can not stop where it is; and it is best th at it should receive now such additional publicity as shall speedily compel the attention of his friends, to the end that whatever vindication may be possible, or such common reparation as may be demanded, shall be at once produced.
