Gen. Butler hnR formally accepted tho nomination for President by the National Greenback Convention... .The Ninteenth Illinois District Republicans nominated by acclamation, for Congress, Thomas Ridgeway, of Shawnee town.... The Democratic State Convention of Delaware adopted a resolution presenting Thomas F. Bnyittrd as a statesman whose nomination for President would furnish at once the platform and the candidate. The Texas Democratic State Convention selected as delegates at large to Chicago, Gov. Hubbard, D. C. Gidding, Thomas J. Brown, and John P. Sr'>th. Before the dedinatidn of Mr. Tilden won made known the delegates wero instructed for the old ticket; but subsequently a resolution was passed allowing the representatives of the State in the natioual convention to act on their judgment. - -—- In the New York Democratic State Conveution at Saratoga the differences of opinion among the various sections of the New York City Democracy were settled and harmony secured fry allowing Tammany thirtyone delegates in the national convention, the County Democracy thirty-one, and Irving Hall ten. The convention did not instruct its representatives at Chicago, but they ale believed to stand 46 for Cleveland, 14 for Flower, and 7 for Bayard. The delegates-at-large are Daniel Manning, Edward Cooper, Lester B. Faulkner, and John C. Jacobs. Among the district delegates are August Belmont, John Kelly, and Abram S. Hewitt. The delegates to the National Democratic Convention, selected by the Michigan Democrats at Detroit, are mostly for Cleveland. One delegate is for Thurman. The platform denounces tho present tariff laws as iniquitous and unjust, the parent of every economic evil, and demands a tariff for revenue only The Democrats of the Fourth District of Maine have nominated John F. Lynch for Congress. In the Indiana State Republican Convention, the first ballot for Governor resulted in 694 votes for W. H. Calkins, 512 for W. W. Dudley aud 48 for Gen. J. P. C. Shanks, and the nomination of Calkins was made unanimous. The platform favors the framing of a new constitution for the ‘ State.... The Prohibitionists of Illinois, at their State convention at Bloomington, nominated J. B. Hobbs, of Chicago, for Governor, and Dr. Perryman, of Belleville, for Lieutenant Governor. Tho sum of $2,700 was raised for campaign purposes. Ex-Senator S. C. Pomeroy, of Kansas, has been nominated for President of the United States by the American (AntiSecret Society) party. John A. Content, of Willimantic, Conn., is the nominee for Vice President. The platform adopted by the convention nt Chicago demands tho prohibition of the manufacture anti sale of intoxicating drinks; that the charters of all secret lodges granted by Federal or State Legislatures should be withdrawn; that laud and other monopolies should be discouraged; and the abolition of electoral colleges aud a direct vote for President and Vice President of the United States. Tiie committee appointed to notify Mr. Blaine of his nomination by the Republican National Convention for President waited on him in a body at his home in Augusta, where Gen. Henderson, Chairman of the committee, made the address of notification under an elm tree in the grounds surrounding Mr. Blaine’s residence. lii replying Mr. B’aine expressed the profound gratitude which he felt for tho great honor bestowed upon him, and promised a more formal acceptance at a future time. After toe addresses the committee, with Mr. Blame, were entertained at luncheon at the nfefrSo of Col. Osgood, a neighbor of Mr. Blaine. The committee appointed by the National Republican Couvention to notify Mr. Blaine of his nomination for tbe Presidency proceeded to his residence in Augusta, and Geu. Henderson. Chairman- of the committee, read the address. Mr. Blaine responded that the platform adopted at Chicago had his unqualified approval, aud tint he fully appreciated the responsibility attached to his leadership. He was glul to meet in the delegation many with whom he had shared the duties of public service. The committee were giveu a reception at Portland in the evening.
