Temperance Column.
Prepared bp the Women*’ Christian lent per Kit ee Uhionof. It'-ensuela er Ind-,. The W. C. T. U., met at the parlors of Mrs. C. V. Stair, on last Saturday afternoon. Owing to some outside work, little was done, except some business transacted. A committee was appointed td prepare a set of resolutions upon the loss sustained by our society, in the removal of our Reporter, Mrs. Jones. The Easter entertainment at the Opera House, on last Sunday afternoon, was largely attended. The stage was tastefuily decorated with flowers, mottoes an-1 drat-ings, and if the choir had done its part, the exercises would have been creditable. It seems strange, to us, that in a town possessing the musical talent which Rensselaer boasts, there cab not be found a greater number who are willing to lend their aid in this tefnuerance work. A choir which would furnish good music at every meeting, would be a power for good, as levers of music are found everywhere, and many might be. drawn to our meetings, through its influence, and thus Le beuelitted, Who could not be reached in any other way. We sincerely hope that, in future, there will be a greater interest manifested in this regard, and that three or four may be spared the embarrassment of imperfectly performing the work of a dozen or more. Choir meeting at Mrs. Hemphill’s, on next Friday evening. A good attendance is desired. Let all who feel interested'FT the good of the Temperance School,'be present, and help to keep the I all rolling. Rev. J. II Finch, of Mishawaka, addressed the audience lor a few minutes, at the Easter entertainment, last Sunday afternoon. i W. C. T. IF. meets with Mrs. Chas. | Rhoades, on Washington street, next 'Saturday afternoon.
