The Commissioners ' Record.
The regular March term of the Commissioners’ Court convened last Monday. The Hons. aymire, Prevo and Nichols all being present. Monday and Tuesday were the “ Whisky days” and devoted mainly to the disposal of applications for saloon licenses, Timothy O’ Connor of liemingtou got his license without difficulty, as did also John Lonorgan, ot Rensselaer. August Fritz, 'of the new town of Wheatfield, in Wheattield township, was shown to be in the habit of becoming intoxicated and his application was refused. The application of James P. Givens for license to keep in the room now occupied by John B. Reynolds, in Rensselaer, was contested on the gj ounds that he had sold liquor to a minor. The remonstrants were Allied Thompson and-John Coen. An affidavit having been filed by the remonstrants stating that the witnesses against Givens had left, for parts unknown, with the connivance as they belie veil of the applicant, they asked that the' case be continued of the case, for a period of not less than thirty days. The commissioners decidedto grant the continuance until the June term of their court. Later. —The missing .witnesses in the last mentioned case, returned to town, Tuesday evening, and to-day the commissioners will be petitioned to reopen the case, which, it is probable they will gousent to do.
